Hotels

  1. For many years Battambang was part of Siam and today the town is a popular stop-off point for travellers going from Thailand to Phnom Penh. Despite this the number and quality of hotels in Battambang is not great. The town, like many in Cambodia, is heavily influenced by French architecture and several Battambang hotels are former large colonial houses. If you are looking for fine dining, vibrant nightlife and designer shops you are definitely in for a shock. In Battambang you will find a sleepy, laid back atmosphere, a limited choice of restaurants and friendly locals. Many visitors to the Battambang hotels use the town as a convenient base for exploring the temples of Wat Ek Phnom and Phnom Banon that are located nearby. Other attractions include the Battambang Museum, the Circus Show and the Cultural Village of Watkor not far from the town. The best, cheapest and most fun way to get around the sights is by motorbike taxi.
